How to extract audio from a video
- Save the video on your device and choose it here. YouTube links and other remote URLs are not supported.
- Click Extract audio. Your browser reads the audio track and prepares WAV without uploading the video to Cuevy.
- Listen, then download WAV. Your original video is unchanged. Save your result before closing this tab or switching language.
Supported formats and limits
Use MP4 with AAC audio or WebM with Opus when your browser supports that codec. The video must contain exactly one mono or stereo audio track. Missing audio, multiple tracks and unsupported codecs show an error; the tool does not silently select or substitute a track.
Each source can be up to 5 minutes and 50 MB. Decoded audio also has a memory budget, so high sample rates may need a shorter video. A computer is recommended for longer or heavier files.
Output is uncompressed 16-bit PCM WAV at 44.1 kHz. Your browser decodes AAC or Opus and resamples when needed. This is transcoding, not a lossless copy of the original compressed stream. WAV can be larger than your source video. MP3 export is not available.
Keep timing, pauses and stereo channels
The WAV starts at the beginning of the video. Leading audio delay, internal gaps and trailing silence up to the video's end are preserved. Duration is rounded to the nearest WAV sample. Stereo channels keep their order and are not mixed into mono. Playback and download use the same prepared audio.
If your browser reads a different audio timeline, no WAV is created and an error explains the problem. Pauses are not removed to force a successful export. Choosing another file or clearing cancels the old operation and removes its download link; a late result cannot replace a newer file.
Your video stays on your device
File contents, names and audio are not sent to Cuevy. Extraction needs no microphone, camera, account or speech model. This page loads normal site resources. Usage analytics count opens, prepared WAV and download clicks without media contents; session replay is disabled.
Hiding the tab stops playback and unfinished processing. Returning does not restart either automatically; click again when ready. A completed WAV remains available when you return, until you clear or close the tab.

Questions before extracting audio
- Can I extract MP4 audio for free?
- Yes. Choose MP4 with one AAC audio track, within 5 minutes / 50 MB, and download WAV. No signup, subscription or paid minutes are needed. Cuevy's paid Russian desktop call assistant is a separate product.
- Can I convert a video to MP3?
- This tool exports WAV. Use a separate converter if you specifically need MP3.
- Can I extract audio from a video URL?
- No. Choose a local video you have the right to use. The tool does not download media from other websites.
- How do I keep only part of the audio?
- Download WAV and open the audio trimmer. Its limit is 5 minutes / 50 MB; uncompressed WAV may be larger than the original video.
- How do I get English text from the video?
- You can select the original video directly in the English transcriber. Its own limits and first speech-model download are explained there.
