How to test your webcam online

  1. Click Start camera test and allow camera access in your browser.
  2. Look at the live preview. Check that your face is visible, lighting is even and the image is in focus. Move to check how the preview looks.
  3. To switch cameras, click Stop camera, choose another device and start again. Click Stop camera when finished.

The same test works with laptop webcams, USB cameras and phone cameras available to your browser. Device names appear after you grant permission. If a selected camera disconnects, the test does not silently turn on another camera.

What this webcam test shows

Frame dimensions come from the video actually received by the page. Frame rate is the value reported in the stream settings, not a measurement of displayed frames per second or a score for smoothness or image quality. If your browser does not report the rate, the page says so. Mirror preview changes only how the video is displayed on this page.

A working preview here does not confirm the camera settings in Zoom, Teams, Google Meet or another app. Select the intended camera in your call app and check its own preview before joining. You can test your microphone separately, record a short sample and listen back. That link opens a new tab; hiding this camera tab stops its preview.

If your camera does not work or shows a black image

Your camera preview stays in your browser

Camera access is requested only after you click the button. Video and device names are not uploaded to Cuevy. This tool does not take snapshots, record video or request microphone access. Capture stops when you stop, cancel, hide the tab or leave the page. Returning to the page does not automatically turn the camera on. Granting a cancelled permission request later closes that stream without starting a preview.

The page loads normal site files and fonts. Usage analytics count page opens and the first received image without video or device details; session replay is disabled. The privacy policy is in Russian. Cuevy's paid Russian-language desktop call assistant is a separate product.

Questions before testing

Is this webcam test free?
Yes. There is no account, payment or installation requirement.
Can I test the camera and microphone together?
This page tests only the camera. Use the microphone test with playback for sound. Camera and microphone permissions are separate; hiding this tab stops the camera.
Why is a camera missing from the list?
The page can list only cameras available to this browser. After granting permission, click Refresh cameras. Check the connection and system permissions. A list error is reported; you can test the system default camera separately.
Can I test a phone camera?
Use a compatible mobile browser. After the first test, stop the camera and choose another from the list if the browser provides it. Switching tabs or locking the screen stops capture; start the test again to continue.
Why does the camera work here but not in a video call?
Your call app may select another camera or need its own permission. Check that app's device settings and preview. This page does not test video delivery to another participant.
